'The Lady in Black' outperformed previous horror-pic launches throughout the Super Bowl frame.Super Bowl weekend is becoming prime property for horror photos, mostly because of the genre's outsized support from female moviegoers. As the frame's latest scarer, CBS Films' "The Lady in Black," unsuccessful to win the weekend (boasting privileges visited Fox's teenage thriller "Chronicle," with $22 million), "Lady" still handled to thrill, having a $20.9 million domestic debut. Buoyed simply by reviews that are positive and recognition for star Daniel Radcliffe, "Lady" far outpaced the newest debut perfs of horror photos throughout this same weekend: Last year's "The Roommate" won its opening frame with $15 million, while "The Uninvited" arrived at No. 3, grossing $10.3 million. "Lady" achieved positive results from the more compact dropoff on Super Bowl Sunday, sinking 69%. That's in comparison to "Roommate" and "Uninvited," which fell 75% and 73%, correspondingly. The less-precipitous Saturday-to-Sunday be seduced by "Lady" (too for "Chronicle," which fell 68%), are much more impressive thinking about Super Bowl XLVI between your Patriots and Titans grew to become probably the most-viewed telecast on record. That's great news for overall moviegoing -- 2012 domestic box office is monitoring a proper 15% in front of this past year. With four wide releases bowing February. 10, which searching to complete solid business (including The new sony-Screen Gems' "The Vow"), the 2011 Stateside B.O. should still gain considerable distance.
